WilderBeast 2006 v1.1

WilderBeast 2006 v1.1 by Stephen Wey
New version of Classic Ensemble for sonic mayhem
OK now we have a mod of a mod :) I've posted it here as opposed to updating the ensemble below because it's turned out to be a bigger change than we expected. It's still based on an original Reaktor 3 ensemble by David Hobson (not the Signature version) but now has a brand new R5 interface and some extra features courtesy of the hugely talented Donovan Stringer as well as an updated bank of 128 patches - about half from the original (though some further edited to take advantage of Reaktor 4 and 5's unison features) and the rest by myself. Donovan has also started a second bank and I will be adding more when I get a chance. There is now a new delay and filter unit (borrowed from Kaleidon) which adds much more flexibility and a smoother sound to the patches and Donovan has also added an Overdrive section that can be turned on or off as required, which really adds extra bite to many of the sounds (though use with caution)

All in all this is an incredibly flexible synth that can create sounds ranging from classic analog phatness to huge pads/soundscapes to spaced out EMS Synthi like weirdness. Endless modulation possibilities and great fun though very deep too.

As this is such a complex beast the new gui has a lot of user friendly features to help tame it - full tooltips, clearer layout, seperate randomising scopes for synth and effects, a userguide for the modulation matrix (which is now on panel B) and tooltips showing assignments, switchable interface for Oscs, filters and LFO's etc

Enjoy.

This sounds great! And the interface is so much better. Nice job!
  2. Gary McCormick (2006-03-30 23:42:48):
I agree, this sounds great. I know y'all put in a lot of work on this; good job and THANKS!

Aiyeeeee! Nice work. Great modular setup guys. This demonstrates exactly how a GUI can make all the difference.
  4. Ingo Sprenger (2006-03-31 11:03:48):
Thanx and never give up... :-))
  5. Donovan Stringer (2006-03-31 17:36:46):
    Cheers, guys!

This is an ongoing project for me, and I already have a few ideas for improving the GUI even more. I hear that Stephan's possibly working on some new snaps in addition to converting his(original) ones to the new structure, so hopefully it'll be worth your while to grab the update when it's ready.

    Have fun!

Excellent sounds and good to play around with.

an awesome synth but i have to say that it feels cluttered now compared to the 4.5 version. not keen on the tabbed menus for the various sections.also the snaps sound different from the 4.5.
i hope you will take this as constructive criticism and keep improving one of the great reaktor synths. thanks (9)

That's fine - I agree that the addition of the new delay has changed the character of the sound for some presets to a lesser of greater extent. On thw whole we felt it was worth it for the xtar possibilities and it is a much better delay but it is also smoother than the old one (of course that is one reason why I left the old version still available ;)) Anyway I am in the process of re-editing all of the presets to work better with the new modules and adding some more but this is taking time I don't have at the moment so it might be a while. As for the gui - I know Don has some ideas but is waiting for me to finish the banks - sorry.

    This is wonderful!

YO HO HO, Hello. I am glad to see somebody has worked on the Wilderbeast! If i could afford Reaktor 5 I would give it a try, but it looks like it handles great. I have Reaktor 4, but I think they want me to pay for Reaktor 5...right? Very cool layout, not as many buttons as the original and ergonomic-looking. I like the look of the Wilderbeast name-plate as well, kind of like middle-ages. I will probably sell one of my real synthesizers to purchase the new Reaktor 5...for only 500 bucks! Unless some kind soul out there wishes to purchase me the software (I live under a bridge...and could use the software to work my way back up into society). Was there an upgrade offer to Reaktor 4 users???...Anyway, I like your modifications Stephan!!! Make it thine! Make it so!
  13. Stephen Wey (2006-05-16 14:33:03):
Thanks David - I appreciate you approval - I didn't post this for months after making it as I was embarrased I'd "pinched" your ensemble (Don persuaded me) and you seemed to have vanished from the forum. I'm glad we're keeping it alive at least :) Hope you get R5 sometime and then you can update the whole architecture.
  14. greg simpson (2006-08-06 09:28:50):
I really like this ensemble; it is one of those "charmers" that I use, forget about, come back to and find utterly fantastic all over again.
  15. William Cooper (2006-09-24 01:49:53):
Thanks You! My favorite so far.
  16. Jace Cavacini (2007-02-18 09:20:49):
pretty cool update. i found myself making a new track based on one of the snaps. this is why i'm a sound whore... i don't create via starting with a melody or a drum track. it just comes spontaneously based on hearing a sound that my brain likes. so, thanks!
  17. shawn gilbert (2007-04-28 20:37:14):
Thank you for your time and effort...though i haven't had time to "thouroughly" get into it, it's as good as N.I. products!...in my humble opinion.

I like the 4.5 version but I think this is better. Great job!
