Wilderbeast 4.5 v1.0

By Stephen Wey
Wilderbeast 4.5 v1.0 by Stephen Wey
Modified Classic Ensemble for huge sounds
This isn't an original creation but it's a mod of the original Reaktor 3 Wilderbeast by David Hobson (not the Signature version) with a new GUI by Donovan Stringer and myself and a full bank of 128 patches - about half from the original (though some further edited to take advantage of Reaktor 4 and 5's unison features) and the rest by myself. I think this is a very flexible synth that can create sounds ranging from classic analog phatness to huge pads/soundscapes to spaced out EMS Synthi like weirdness. Endless modulation possibilities and great fun though very deep too.

Hope you like it.

    Cheers, Stephan!

A pain in the butt arranging all those controllers to minimize space, but it was good fun nonetheless, and I really dug your extra presets..

    About the GUI:

This was worked on right before the R5 update, and exploits a trick that approximates the function of multi-tabbed macros. You use the buttons to access the relevant sections, ie: VCA 1, 2, 3, etc..

    A great instrument all around!

thanks for doing this, i never used the original, bacause of the layout. this has also got a wide variety of snaps.

    Great sounds.
Just starting to use this ens. Seems very powerful.

Some excellent sounds in your provided snapshots.

    Inspiring and refreshing.

Thankyou. This started because I always preferred the old version to the Signature one- seems a bit beefier and in your face to me, but the gui was terribly confusing and far too big. I made some improvements myself and added a load more snapshots to David Hobson's originals (as well as bringing them up to date such as the ones that I thought could benefit from the new R4 unison features to make them even gutsier) and posted it on KVR where it was well recieved but I felt a bit uncomfortable posting it here at first as it was not really much of my own work and I didn't want to steal David's thunder. However Donovan got hold of it and added the multipage features and I gradually added more snapshots till the bank was full so eventually I plucked up the confidence to post it. Main credit should go to David Hobson though - this is really one of the great ensembles for Reaktor despite it's quirks - I see it as a sort of Synthi on steroids with all the modulation possibilities and the sort of sounds it can create are very varied (even some PM stuff). Note it is not compatible with the banks for the signature edition - I tried - but I did get some inspiration for some of the patches from that one (though there are also a lot of Genesis tributes as I love Bank's work) and a few Erasure like 80's sounds too. Don is still working on improving the usability of the gui based on R5 features and we will post an update when this is completed.

Using R5's GUI improvements, I'm now working on a revised interface that you guys should like much more loosely based on Carbon II's multi-tabbed interface, but it's gonna be a few days before it's ready.

    Cheers,
    D

The updated graphics are almost done. I've added one or two things and will be firing it back to Stephan for some preset tweaks.

The updated version gui is complete - Donovan managed it in record time. Awesome job too - looks fantastic - I think people will be knocked out by this one. I will be posting this evening as soon as I've gone through the presets and made any changes to incorporate the *new features* so hold back on downloading this version - it's being replaced sooner than expected :)

Hello Stephen! I posted a salutation on the other one...er...page? I like it! You have managed, it seems, to tame the beast and bring it prancing into the 21st century. Now if I only had Reaktor 5....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Seriously, was it a pain in the butt? I want all of the sordid details. Good job and make it your own! :)

Some good big playable sounds in here... though i don't care for the noises...
  11. David Bowes (2007-03-30 15:23:15):
Is there a good and valid reason why the main volume is snap isolated?

    great job
